NSMS has completed our first full week of online learning at the piano. Congratulations to all of the students, parents, and faculty who have worked so hard to make this transition successful. Students have been able to enjoy learning and making music through virtual platforms. Over and over, faculty have remarked at how well-prepared the students have been for lessons, and how connecting with students online has been the
highlight of their week.
During this time of disruption to our daily lives, we encourage you to make practicing and music-making part of your new routine. Set aside time each day for piano. Perhaps your family can have informal family recitals in the evenings. Share videos of students playing piano with teachers, family, and friends. In a world where there are many
things we cannot do, enjoying music-making at the piano is something we CAN do. We are so fortunate to have the ability to participate in this transformative and healing art during this difficult time.
