NSMS is pleased to welcome Emily Rudquist to the faculty for the 2021-2022 school year!
Ms. Rudquist recently completed her Master's Degree at the University of Oklahoma, and is "excited for the opportunity to work with this new community of learners as they experience the joy of music-making."
Emily Rudquist holds a Master’s Degree in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Oklahoma and a Bachelor’s Degree from Gustavus Adolphus College. She began teaching at the Gustavus Piano Lab in 2015. Since then, she spent many years teaching private piano lessons in St. Paul, MN and then collegiate group and applied lessons at the University of Oklahoma. Her pedagogy teachers include Dr. Yumiko Oshima-Ryan, Dr. Barbara Fast, and Dr. Jane Magrath.
Alongside her teaching, Emily continues to be an active performer, church musician, and accompanist. In 2013, she won the Collegiate Piano Festival at the University of Northwestern-St. Paul and, a year earlier, she was a Featured Round Finalist for Minnesota Public Radio’s Minnesota Varsity. She has served many different congregations throughout Minnesota and Oklahoma playing the organ and directing handbell and children’s choirs.
