It is with mixed emotions that we bid farewell to our colleagues and friends, Peter Groch and Emily Rudquist. Administrative Director, Rebecca Pennington, writes, "We are so grateful to both Mr. Groch and Ms. Rudquist for their contributions to the NSMS community. Their dedication to and investment in the musical growth of their students will be felt for years to come. We wish them both well as they embark on their future endeavors."
Peter writes, "In the fall, I will be teaching at Third Street Music School Settlement in the East Village and continuing to build my private studio in New York City. Outside of teaching, I plan on spending more time composing new music for solo piano (I have some performances scheduled for the 2023-2024 school year where I will play original compositions) as well as creating music for dance.
I have learned so much throughout my time at the New School for Music Study and will miss being a part of such a special place. Since first entering the school in 2019, I have grown so much as a teacher and musician and hope to continue spreading the knowledge I have acquired with a broader audience."
Emily will be returning home to Minnesota in the fall to teach piano at The MacPhail Center for Music in Minneapolis. Although she will dearly miss all her students at the New School, she is excited to be closer with friends and family once again.
Peter and Emily, you will forever be a part of our NSMS family. We truly wish you all the best! Please keep in touch and come back often.
