Teaching statement: We all are surrounded by music every single day; so much so, that it is easy to become numb to truly how wonderful it is. Developing an awareness, an appreciation, and a critical ear for music helps us as humans to be more in touch with something so integral to our daily experience. Learning music through the piano offers, in my opinion, the most holistic and robust opportunities in that regard. But there is a personal connection to the piano as well - at the forefront of my teaching is the desire for others to come to love the piano. This colors all aspects of instruction – technique, musicality, theory, and beyond. Additionally, the framework through which this instruction happens is highly important to me. I’m a firm believer that hard work, a good attitude, and a willingness to learn are all important qualities for both the teacher and student to have. With all of these ingredients present, the piano studio truly becomes a place where limitless things are possible.
