Support an NSMS Partner
Kingston United Methodist Church is an important partner with the New School for Music Study. Not only does the church provide space for our Faculty Concert Series and our Spring Recital Series, they also provide additional lesson space for our students and teachers. The New School supports Kingston United Methodist Church and encourages your support of their church.

Dear Friends,

It has been my great pleasure to be Administrative Director of the New School for Music Study since Fall 2010.  This past year has seen changes in our physical facility, the technological support of our instruction, and the staff.  But the basics of NSMS remain the same: a strong curriculum of instruction through which each student becomes a skilled and informed musician. It is my responsibility to set goals and plan for the future, and to that end I write to you to announce our 7th Annual Fund Drive.

Last year was the New School’s 50th year, a tremendous year to join the school, and I would like to share my reflections. On the surface, NSMS is a place of learning with a long history, and music echoes through its hallways and studios. Looking deeper, students are of all ages and levels and are challenged to excel by their teachers in an encouraging, engaging learning environment. The students are artists, who play and create music at the piano, and are supported by their parents, who are welcome participants at NSMS. The faculty members are educators and artists, who pursue excellence in their performing, classes, and lessons. At its core, the New School forms an arts community, in which students learn in groups and teachers collaborate, all focused on making music at the piano. I am truly thankful to be part of NSMS, and based upon my conversations with you, I know many of you feel the same for yourselves and your children.

The New School for Music Study needs your cooperation and support to continue its growth into the future. While tuition forms the basis of our budget, donations provide funding for initiatives beyond the regular expenses of salaries, maintenance, and utilities. I will ensure that your pledge of support will be well used. Beginning this year, NSMS pledges to place ten percent of annual fund donations into a scholarship fund for families in need. With the additional funds, we will begin to modernize our facility; our building is a historical Kingston home and needs to be updated, such that it reflects the excellence we maintain in our piano education. Our studios and classroom will be remodeled, creating contemporary, attractive, and comfortable spaces for our community.

Please support the New School for Music Study by making a donation to this year’s annual fund. As a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization, all donations are completely tax deductible. Any amount that you feel able to contribute would be greatly appreciated! I would like to thank you in advance for your support of this unique institution.

Sincerely,
Sara M. Ernst, NCTM
Administrative Director
