All prospective students are interviewed personally as a first step in the enrollment process.
Interviews with beginning students are designed to assess readiness for piano study and to answer any questions about the
New School’s programs and philosophy. For those with previous study, the interview provides an opportunity to discover where
the student is in each area of piano study. Interviews are scheduled throughout the school year by our Director of Admissions,
Rebecca Mergen Pennington. To schedule an interview, please contact Beth Amoroso at (609) 921-2900 ext. 101.

Re-Enrollment For Continuing Students
For continuing registration, preference is given to students who are registered for the previous semester. To pre-register
and guarantee a place in the fall, parents must return a completed registration card and a $100 tuition deposit for each
student. This deposit is credited against the first tuition payment. There is also a yearly materials fee of $30 for each
student to cover the cost of photocopying, materials, and replacement costs of on-loan music. This fee is added to the first
tuition payment.
Withdrawal
Registration is for the entire school year, September to June. If a student must withdraw before the end of the school year, a four-week notice is required and tuition will be assessed through the notice period whether the lessons are taken or not.
Exit Procedure
Under certain conditions, a student may be asked to discontinue music study at the New School for Music Study. These conditions include, but are not limited to:
- non-payment or recurrent lateness in payment of tuition
- excessive absenteeism or tardiness
- non-participation in group classes
- excessive and recurrent non-preparation of assignments or inconsistent practice
- perception that our program may not be suited for the needs of a particular student
