Alumni

Alumni are an important part of our history, and to help us celebrate our 50th anniversary in 2010, we are asking all Alumni to take a few minutes to reconnect with us - share with us where you live, what you do, news of your family, and what part music still plays in your life. Did your time at the New School result in your becoming a professional musician, or an avocational pianist, or are you parents of enthusiastic piano students, or are you a lifelong participant in and supporter of the arts?

With your permission, we'll include some of the news you submit below in a newsletter on our website during 2010, the date that marks the 50 years of the school's long and distinguished history.

Do you have any ideas for ways we could celebrate the 50th anniversary?

The New School for Music Study is now part of a larger organization called "The Frances Clark Center for Keyboard Pedagogy." The Center has three divisions:

  • The New School for Music Study (still very much as it was when you were here);
  • Clavier Companion magazine for piano teachers with world-wide circulation; and,
  • The National Conference on Keyboard Pedagogy, a gathering of 800 piano teachers from all 50 states and 20 foreign countries who meet every other summer to continue to learn about the fine art of teaching music at the piano.

The New School has grown to 260 students, most of them enrolled in the same kind of group and private study you experienced. They are playing more beautifully than ever, and we invite you to drop in to hear them. We added an extra studio by building a charming little cottage just off the driveway. In addition, we rent space in the Kingston Presbyterian Church, where we also have our spring recitals. We have some wonderful new pianos – several Yamahas, some with software, and a magnificent 7-foot Steinway grand.

Please send us your news by filling out the online form above, and thank you in advance for your submission. We eagerly look forward to hearing from you and to sharing your news with all our former students.
